Plants of the Cypriot garden

The Cypriot garden is characterized by plants resistant to the intense sun as well as the prolonged periods of drought. This fact, in combination with our desire to enjoy healthy plants in our green spaces, makes it necessary to carefully select plants, but also to treat them with appropriate fertilization products, in order to achieve the desired result.

Below are five plant species, ideal for the Cypriot climatic conditions which we often meet and choose in our outdoor green spaces. They adapt easily to any kind of environment, require minimal care, and fit perfectly with the Cypriot natural landscape.

It should be noted, of course, that our reference to the following species is completely indicative as there is a plethora of plants that are part of the Cypriot garden.

Cercis siliquastrum

Also known as the tree of Judah, it is a small deciduous tree, with attractive flowering before the appearance of the leaves. With low water requirements and resistance to the intense sun it creates impressive images, while we can meet it from sea level up to over 1000 meters altitude.

Pittosporum tobira

A very hardy evergreen shrub with tremendous resistance to drought, shading, salinity, and strong winds. It is one of the most widespread plants of the Mediterranean basin while in the spring it gives small white flowers. It is selected for the creation of natural low fences; however, it can reach up to 5 meters in height.

Lonicera etrusca

One of the most impressive climber plants in the Cypriot gardens, with a wide variety of flower colors. It has moderate water requirements, while it is considered a fast-growing plant, especially if it is located in rich soils. We can also find it at all altitudes of Cyprus while its flowering is prolonged.

Levander anguistifolia

Probably the most characteristic plant of the Mediterranean. It belongs to the herbs family with rich flowering from spring until the end of summer. With minimal water requirements and resistance to adverse conditions, it is the first choice in our gardens. It prefers the outdoors while the intense sunshine in combination with proper fertilization will give us a very rich flowering.

Phlomis cypria var. occidentalis

A shrub that can reach up to 1.2 meters in height. With high resistance to direct sunlight, however, it can thrive in semi-shady places. It shows resistance to low winter temperatures while its water requirements are minimal.

In the direction of a complete care of the above plants but also of all the plant species that we select to use in our gardens, the appropriate use of fertilizing and nourishing products such as those contained in the range of Garden pro is vital.

Thus, the selection of products such as Fetrilon Compi – Trace Elements, MegaGrow, Ferti Pro and the Growth Plus will provide all those necessary nutrients, in order our plants to reward us.
